Hierarchical - Each round of the tournament yields increasing scores for games picked correctly. Points go as follow: play-in: 5 pts. 1st Round: 1 pt. 2nd Round: 2 pts. Sweet 16: 4 pts. Elite 8: 8 pts. Final 4: 16 pts. Final: 32 pts.
Upset Special - Similar to Hierarchical. The difference is for the first two rounds of the tournament bonus points are awarded for correctly picking lower seeded teams to beat higher seeded teams. The bonus is the difference between the two teams' seed numbers. For example if a 13 seed beats a 4 seed in the first round, seven points would be awarded instead of one. The 13 seed would go on to play the winner of the 5/12 game for the region. For this example assume the 5 seed wins their game as well. If that same 13 seeded team wins in the second round the bonus points awarded would be 8, which is the difference between 13 and 5. If the higher seeded team wins the normal scoring outlined for Hierarchical scoring is used. The same goes for subsequent rounds after the second round for all teams.
Normal - One game. One point for all games and round. The winner is the one who correctly picks the most games.
